PhD position available!
We invite applications for a PhD position on the interplay between host-parasite coevolution and parasite host-switching. This position is part of a joint program between The University of Queensland (Brisbane, Australia) and the University of Exeter (Penryn campus, Cornwall, UK). The successful applicant will be jointly supervised by Jan Engelstaedter (UQ) and Ben Longdon (U Exeter). The project consists of a theory component (mathematical modelling) to be conducted in Jan Engelstaedter’s lab and an experimental component (using a bacteria-phage system) in Ben Longdon’s lab. The School of Biological Sciences is a large and research-intensive unit at the University of Queensland, one of Australia’s most prestigious universities. Brisbane is the third-largest city in Australia and offers mild subtropical climate, vibrant cultural life, plenty of outdoor activities and native wildlife. Likewise, the University of Exeter is a research-intensive university with a particular focus on ecology and evolution, and Cornwall is a beautiful part of England with a unique history and culture.

Although currently, we don’t have any funding for postdoc positions, there are several UQ and Australian Research Council schemes for competitive postdoctoral fellowships.
